Work at UTC Fire & Security

Technician Jobs

UTC-Chubb Australasia employs over 2000 technically trained people across its three divisions: Fire Safety, Electronic Security and Cash in Transit.

Many of the technicians we employ are fully qualified tradespeople, however equally we have many who may not be tradespeople but have just the right technical skills for our business. The specific types of technical roles that are performed within our Australasian business are:

1. Sprinkler Fitting
2. Portables Technician
3. Installation Technician
4. Automatic Teller Technician
5. Commissioning Technician
6. Electrical and Mechanical Estimators
7. Locksmiths
8. Security Technician
9. Do & Charge Technicians (Electrical & Mechanical)
10. Inspection & Testing Technicians (Electrical & Mechanical)
11. Fire Door Technicians
12. Factory, Refrigeration, Service and Workshop Technicians

Fundamentally we are a technology company, as a result technical skills are the foundation that Chubb is built upon and people with technical skills have a wide range of career paths open to them within the Australasian business.

Some examples of the career paths are:

1. Many technicians may choose to enter our business as a technician and hone their technical skills while working with us for many years. For these people the depth of technical knowledge that they obtain from their work and from working with skilled colleagues is what is important.

2. Often we have technicians who choose to develop their technical skills at a higher level and move into specialist engineering based roles. There are many opportunities for this type of career progression within the Australasian business. See Engineering roles for more detail on this.

3. A third and growing area for career opportunities for technicians is a move into line management roles. The vast majority of our existing line management staff have worked as a technician at some point in their career. We actively encourage and support this type of career move through our scholarship programs and various types of leadership, management and project management development programs.

We believe that there are a number of unique benefits that Technical people can obtain at UTC-Chubb, which they can not anywhere else are:

1. The ability to work in a organisation which sets the industry benchmark in terms of the technology and processes which are used.

2. The ability to develop a career both within Australasia and globally with one of the World’s most successful companies.

3. The ability to study any recognised course (job related or non job related) and have UTC-Chubb pay for 100% of the tuition fees.

4. The ability to work in a company where customers, family and friends understand, respect and value the company’s products and services.
